The templates for plastic and metal nametags are different because each is created using a different process. Each template defines the size of the nameplate and the quantity and placement of the text lines. The character limits listed below are general guidelines only, as the actual character limit will vary based on the font chosen. Text that is longer than will fit will be compressed to fit the available space.
What is the difference between laser and rotary engraving?
Both laser and rotary engraving are used for engraving text on nameplates; however, they are very different in how they operate, and they each have a very unique "look." Rotary engravers cut along a path while laser engraving is done in a back and forth motion much like an ink printer, and the results are quite different.
Rotary engraving uses a spinning drill to cut into the top layer of the plastic, creating a relief effect. The material has different layers, and as the top layer is removed, the color of the core is revealed. The text on the two-color nameplate is distinctive and has a consistent stroke width.
