Donations and Charity Work for Your Business

Whether your efforts are to encourage employees to be active in your community or your business wants to reach out to those in need, donations and charity work are a fantastic way to show you care. In every community, there are people in need. And, in these communities, businesses like yours can make a difference. Here are some reasons why YOU should be that difference.

Creating Community Understanding

Understanding the community concept teaches that you must do things to keep it healthy no matter the setting. These insights are supported and managed by people feeling that they belong somewhere. And this comes with accepting each other and the diversity of those around you. This community understanding makes us responsible for those around us. In turn, this community responsibility not only aids those in need, but it assists everyone influenced by any actions in that community.

Donations and charity work are only a couple of ways that make us more responsible in our community. And, building trust in our community is not only a requirement but also the best way to maintain any community. This is why we, as a company, are always looking to help out in our neighborhood and surrounding areas. By reaching into our community and participating in networking opportunities for organizations, we can see how much our brand resonates with others. We also find how our brand reflects in our community.

Here are a couple of examples of our recent donations!

Cranedale Designs

Cranedale Designs tiny houses community donor name tags board.

We sent two types of plastic, engraved name tags. One was a small name tag with either a first and last name or a company name. The other type were circle custom shapes with the amount donors had given to the project. Each name tag type was needed in four colors.

Carol King, Owner of Cranedale Designs, said, “The donor board name tags represent everyone who designed, supplied building material and helped to build the tiny houses in a settlement in my town. My son is on the board of the tiny house community. He had a fundraiser, and one of the people who work for the tiny house community said they needed a donor board to honor those who took the time to make the little community possible. I am an artist, and I said I would love to do that as a contribution to the community.”

“The inspiration, of course, was that it was a tiny house community,” King explained of the exhibit. I thought it would be fun if each donor had their own little tiny house. I struggled to find a way to put the names on the little houses. There are 208 names, and stamping them into the clay seemed like a huge amount of work. It was already a lot of work to make each little house. I (decided I) needed four distinctive colors to represent the levels of donation. (Coller Industries) had the best looking variations in color.”

Big Dog Ranch Rescue

This remarkable pet rescue also received a donation of plastic, engraved name tags. They went all out with upgrades like rounded corners and beveled edges, as well as the deluxe magnets (our most popular fastener)! These tags are worn by adopters, visitors, donors and other staff members so that they are quickly identified, and the tags create a welcoming environment.

Christopher Kraus, Chief Executive Officer of Big Dog Ranch Rescue, said, “Our organization’s mission is to save 5,000 dogs every year, to heal and place them with loving families, and to educate people about the proper care for dogs and the importance of spaying and neutering. We will end dog homelessness through education, sterilization and legislation.”

“Big Dog Ranch Rescue has now rescued more than 37,000 dogs and united countless families with their new forever friends. We also believe in giving back to our community through education and support. From a new Veteran Service Dog Program to visits to nursing homes, from teaching the importance of spay neutering to the next generation to helping seniors care for their pets when they are unable, Big Dog Ranch Rescue is here for our neighbors. Dog rescue is a 24/7 calling. We won’t rest until every dog has a loving family, and we end dog homelessness forever.”

New name tags are sure to be the best purchase you will make this year. And we’re sure your employees, volunteers and other staff will thank you. So, spice up your look with brand new identification!

Are you in need of new name tags?

Whether your name tags are just a couple of years old or are in desperate need of an upgrade, we have just what you are looking for. Our high-quality products are perfect for every identification need. Choose from engraved names and logos to bright, colorful printing (UV and full color).

Finding the Right Type of Logos

With several options available, your logo will never look better! Choose from simple engraving to our full color options. No matter what your logo looks like, it will look amazing on a metal or plastic name tag. Even if your logo has multiple colors (or white), we have a solution for you.

What makes a good name tag logo?

Frequently, a logo designed for use on the internet or printed media doesn’t come off as well when you try to fit it onto your name tag. Assuming you made the decision to have a logo on your name tags, here are a few things to consider.

  • Keep the size of the tag in mind. In most cases, the logo will be much smaller, and little details won’t be as visible anymore.
  • Remember that you may have to be flexible on the colors associated with your logo.
  • When adding names and logos, remember that the smaller your logo, the larger it’s presence can be.
  • Try to limit the amount of detail in your logo. Smaller details are not visible from a distance or on a smaller name tag. You only need enough detail to make the logo recognizable.
  • Even if your logo is mostly used for the internet or printed media, you should plan and have a single color version created. This is primarily used for our engraved tags.
  • Finally, consider a custom shaped tag. Your name tag might cut into a shape that follows your logo. Then you can add names and titles.

Just like our name tags, we have several options for your name plate needs. We even have a reusable option for short term or temporary positions. Choose from engraving or printing for names, titles and logos. Or, add directions and other useful signage to your business.

We recently had the opportunity to give back to an organization that understands the importance of community service: the Red Barn Academy.

What is Red Barn Academy?

Our mission here is to help reinvent broken lives from addiction and crime by teaching hard work, discipline and integrity in a farm setting.

Red Barn Academy is a therapeutic community for substance abusers and behavioral change. A therapeutic community is based on the concept of mutual self-help. The motto at Red Barn Academy is “each one, teach one.” Everyone in our community has gifts and knowledge to share; we can learn and improve together. A therapeutic community is a residential treatment model with increased responsibility and independence. Red Barn Academy is a highly structured organization run by staff and current students (“Peers”).

The Haws family had a desire to give something back to the community – the original plan [back in 1976] was to construct a working community farm, within the master planned development, to help keep the feeling of the farm in Farmington. After development of the farm, The Haws family experienced their own personal tragedy related to addiction. This life-altering family loss set in motion their desire to help other families and individuals struggling with addiction a place to turn for help.

Why name tags?

The Red Barn Academy received metal name tags with engraved names from Coller Industries to help them in their cause. Each name tag features a first and last name engraved in gold on a mirror red name tag. Rounded corners and a magnetic fastener complete the professional look for each name tag.

Justice Tiedermann has first-hand knowledge about how Red Barn Academy works. “I am a student here at Red Barn Academy. I’m a recovering meth addict, and I’ve been here for two years now. Before coming to Red Barn Academy, I was a liar and manipulator who could hardly stand the sight of myself, let alone hear my own name. However, being here at Red Barn and just practicing doing the next right thing and working hard, literally working for either our moving company, our construction, and our property management, and pushing through those hard days of either blistering heat or bitter cold, I have developed a sense of confidence to where I can look in the mirror and be proud of who I see, and wear my name on my chest with pride.”

Tiedermann, a Senior Student on the Corporate Development team, said, “This [name tag donation] will help us provide a sense of professionalism and confidence within our students.”

Better Your Brand with Professional Identification

Like the Red Barn Academy, we believe that name tags help with professionalism and confidence. Developing a positive reputation requires consistency. The Red Barn Academy understands this should include wearing matching name tags. Wearing a name tag featuring your brand also helps your customers know that you have their best interest in mind. (P.S. We think they look great!).

High-Quality Name Tags for Every Business

From the material to the printing, every aspect of your name tag is reviewed by our team repeatedly to make sure you are getting the best product. And, with our satisfaction guarantee, you will always get high-quality name tags. But what does that mean for you? Here are some easy ways to tell that you are getting the best quality for your company.

We want to help you understand why you need high-quality name tags. Remember, your name tag reflects your brand’s value and trust. Companies are more likely to succeed when they focus and commit to a high-quality image and business model. Author of Out of the Crisis, W. Edwards Deming wrote, “Create constancy of purpose toward improvement of product and service, with the aim to become competitive, to stay in business and to provide jobs.”

How do high-quality name tags help with showing a brand’s commitment to its customers?

For a lot of professions, appearance is a crucial factor in this quality. Maintaining your commitment to quality is easy with a uniform and the proper name tag. Whether you choose a daily business attire like a suit and tie or a matching polo shirt for each of your employees, don’t forget that name tag.

From branding to color matching, name tags, like uniforms, help to symbolize your quality. Creating a positive influence with your brand means guaranteeing that all of your business’s services and products are consistent. Employees and customers know when that consistency is not present. Make sure to choose name tags that reflect your brand’s commitment to quality. Once accomplishing this, showing that you commit to quality is easy.

What makes high-quality name tags a must for your business?

A name tag helps to create a connection between you and your customer by providing identification of employees and other staff. This name tag also lets your customers know you are here to help and that your objective is to service their needs. There are several basic features to high-quality name tags that provide value to both your name tag and your brand’s identity.

Materials

Durability is a must when it comes to name tags. Both our plastic and metal materials are thick and sturdy. No matter your color choice, we guarantee that our name tags, when treated properly, will last a long time. After all, it’s important to keep your branding clear and easily recognizable.

Engraving and Printing

Smooth, neat printing and engraving show off your brand and individual identity best. Our printing/engraving processes benefit your business by providing clear and definable names and logos. From full-color printing (yes, bleeds included) to the engraving of someone’s title, your name tags will always be of the highest possible quality to show off your business.

Fasteners

Even the fastener on a name tag helps reflect your company’s standards. Each fastener choice we carry only aids in the presentation of your chosen name tags by keeping them firmly fixed to uniforms and other employee attire. Our Deluxe Magnetic Fasteners hold through thick material and multiple layers of clothing, making them our most popular choice. Everything we offer not only is permanently attached to each name tag, but it will help your high-quality image stand out from your competition.

Extras

Choosing extras on both material types (plastic and metal) will increase the value of your name tags and increase your brand’s value. Features like frames, doming, rounded corners and beveled edges provide finishing touches that show off your logo and other branding you have on your name tags. Each extra you add to a name tag improves its quality and thereby improves your company’s value and brand.

Are your current name tags just not holding up to match your branding and company image? You should always make sure they meet your business standards and goals. With us, you can order a product example before placing a large order of name tags. This way, you get to see how much quality you get from our name tags, and you also get to experience our extraordinary customer service before making your purchase.

Education and a Lesson in Giving

Giving is more than just taking something (money or product) and donating it to someone in need. It is also about adding to our community and raising our standards. More importantly, it’s about educating ourselves about what is needed in our community. And, while we are receiving this education, we are also providing it to others.

Here at Coller Industries Incorporated, our primary focus is meeting our customers’ needs and providing a better future for our community. As such, we have a constant desire to give back to those in need. And what better way than investing in the education of our children?

The Granite Education Foundation

The Granite Education Foundation

The mission of Granite Education Foundation is to improve educational outcomes by strengthening the Granite School District Community. This is accomplished through the engagement of business and community partners in the support of Granite School District and the academic achievement of all its students.

Who we are. Granite Education Foundation is a coalition of engaged business and community leaders with a passion and understanding of the importance of an education.

What we do. Granite Education Foundation seeks to improve the academic success and well being of each student with a particular emphasis on supporting students at risk of not graduating.

How we do it. In collaboration with Granite School District, concerned individuals, and community partners, Granite Education Foundation provides basic needs, programs and educational enhancement services that have been shown to improve the chances of student academic success and well being.

In 2009, we started giving to The Granite Education Foundation.

We are happy that we have been able to continue in this giving tradition, so last year we donated again. The knowledge that this money goes to help the children in our community is what keeps us giving. It isn’t about the money; it’s about the future of our kids and where they will lead us because they were able to obtain a good education.

We believe in giving toward the education of our children and our future. And because of that, we have enjoyed receiving something back for the past 11 years. Each year, as a thank you for our time and money, Granite Education Foundation has some of their school children write and send a personal thank you. We are always thrilled when our special letter arrives.

This year, the note that came with our Valentine’s card read:

Valentine's Day card from the Granite Education Foundation and a school child

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Granite Education Foundation and students from across the district wanted to express a heart-felt thanks for all you do. Enclosed you will find hand-made Valentine’s Day cards our students created with YOU in mind. Thank you for being a part of our success. We look forward to working more with you.
Yours truly,
The Granite Education Foundation Team

The Valentine’s Day card that came with this letter was handwritten with a simple message of, “Thank you for donating to GEF.” These two letters were included in a gray, felt heart shaped envelope. And we love it!

Gary Coller, President of Coller Industries, said, “We donate because it’s the right thing to do. We do it for the children in our neighborhood.”

While it is the right thing to do, we see the benefits it has on our community.

The monetary donation goes toward a scholarship fund for students in the Granite School District. And, with more than 50% of Granite School District’s 67,000 students living at or below the poverty line, we need to be doing what we can to support our community.

This donation also goes toward coats, gloves and shoes for these school kids. Backpacks are also filled with school supplies at the beginning of the school year and given to the kids who need them the most. We are proud to help support these efforts of giving.

And, we want to say thank you to the GEF for all of the outstanding work they do for our education system here in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our children benefit every day from their kindness and dedication toward learning.
